Our Favorite Nashville Things to Do This Summer

We talk a lot about homes here — but a tidy, organized home is really just a launchpad for a good life. And in the summer, a good life in Nashville means getting out and soaking up everything this city does so well.

Here are some of our favorite ways to spend a summer day (or evening) in Music City right now.

Grab peaches from the Peach Truck

If you haven't made a Peach Truck stop part of your summer routine, this is your sign. Fresh Georgia peaches, perfectly ripe, showing up at spots all over the city. Find them, buy more than you think you need, and eat them over the sink like summer demands.

Wander 12 South on a Tuesday

The 12 South Farmers Market runs Tuesday afternoons at Sevier Park (4–7 PM) and it's one of the best low-key outings in the city. Grab a coffee, browse local vendors, pick up something fresh for dinner, and let yourself slow down for an hour. Pair it with a cone from one of the nearby shops and you've got yourself a perfect evening.

Dolly Parton's Threads at the Schermerhorn

Running through the end of July, Dolly Parton's Threads is a symphony celebration of her songwriting paired with a fashion exhibit — and it's exactly as magical as it sounds. A great date night or girls' night that feels quintessentially Nashville.

Picnic at Centennial Park

Pack a blanket and whatever looks good at the farmers market, and head to Centennial Park. The full-scale replica of the Parthenon never gets old as a backdrop, and the park is one of those places that reminds you why Nashville is such a livable city.

Nashville Shores for a full water day

If you've got kids — or just love a waterslide — Nashville Shores is the move. Check the calendar for their special fireworks nights too, which happen a few times over the summer.

Live music any night of the week

This one barely needs to be said, but summer is when Nashville's live music scene is truly electric. From Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman on Tuesday evenings (running through late July) to shows at the Opry, Ascend Amphitheater, and every honky-tonk on Broadway — there is always somewhere to be.

The Tomato Art Fest in August

Start penciling in August 7–8 now. East Nashville's Tomato Art Fest is one of those only-in-Nashville events that you have to experience. Free, weird, joyful, and full of local art and live music. It's the perfect end-of-summer hurrah.

Whatever your summer looks like, we hope it's full of good food, good people, and at least a few slow mornings at home in a space that feels like you. That's what we're here for.
